Primary field experiences: Critical for primary generalist physical education teachers?

Generalist primary teachers teach physical education in many countries, and their preparation has been the subject of attention internationally. While they undertake field experiences as part to teach, it is unclear how much teaching focused on education. Reflective practice recognised a significant element (Korthagen, 2014) with view improving practice. The focus this study reflective cohort generalist pre-service (PSTs) ( N=25). This qualitative descriptive study. Data analysed were written reflections chosen because considered powerful professional learning tool. particular experience that consisted supported by peers teacher educators. Findings reveal PSTs appreciated environment provided experience, characterised dialogue, support encouragement. They saw merit, relevancy meaningfulness prior embarking it, where both anxiety excitement highlighted. lesson planning, resource management class organisation, wrote from observing teaching, co-teaching receiving feedback educators peers. identified potential build within future evaluated experiences. building confidence competence PSTs.
